Just as in the picture, though my cat fills the entire top. i put this together quickly. it is easy to assemble and the cats like it. one has even decided it's now his daytime bed. ☺️ the top layer comes off which is good as the holes for the cats to go inside are quite small, which i expected. i think i might try it as two pieces, the top as a bed and the bottom as an open box. together it is sturdy and stable enough to be used as a kitty step, which is why i bought it in the first place so my older cats can use it to reach our bed. great value for money. very pleased. thank you! ☺️
